Retrofit Walls

Double stud walls are an excellent soundproofing strategy. The physical isolation afforded by the space between walls gives you a lot of sound-stopping capability. Still, some low frequency sonic vibration can seep through. An example would be a subwoofer with the volume turned up. Adding WallDamp strips will add vibration dampening, making the wall sound better.

This is the same as our WallDamp Economy product, except for the added double stud wall system. Addtional soundproofing capability can be added by using steel studs, and if possible, constructing the wall on 24" centers. Placing fiberglass batts that are oversized also adds soundproofing capability.

Additional damping capability requires additional WallDamp. To do that, use a second layer of sheetrock with WallDamp squares sandwiched in between on 12" centers.

soundproofing plus damping

ASC took a proven industry standard form of soundproofing, and added low frequency sound damping. The WallDamp absorbs vibration by converting it to heat. That is what makes our engineered soundproofing systems unique.

ASC is known worldwide for the best audio acoustics, and our soundproofing is no exception. WallDamp is ideal for high powered audio environments where quality counts. Unlike other damping systems such as "Green Glue", our product is engineered to give you a known result based on a known quantity of damping material.

a double stud WallDamp wall

This double stud wall is being used to soundproof a recording studio. WallDamp has been placed on the studs before installing the sheetrock. WallDamp squares are then added before placing a second layer of sheetrock. Using two dissimilar sheetrock materials also added additional soundproofing.
